In a WalletHub survey, New York was named the second least patriotic state in the nation.
New Jersey finished dead last.
WalletHub, a personal finance site created a survey based on 13 metrics that weighed voting records, military enlistment, jury service, volunteering, and the number of veterans that live in the surveyed area.
The survey also showed that New York finished 49th in military engagement, in part from having the fewest veterans per capita, with just 54 per 1000 adults compared to Alaska's 127 per 1000.
Things didn't get much better for the Empire State when it came to volunteering either; New York finished with the fourth lowest rate. Florida was last in the category.
The top 5 performing states in the survey include Vermont, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and New Hampshire.
According to an article in the New York Post, New Hampshire was found to be the most patriotic state in the union.
The WalletHub survey concluded that red states average out to be more patriotic than blue states.
